. . . the Worst of Times

And so it begins. The pinched urban face of All Against All, of the worst in society against the best; and the death mask of a popular culture that once tried, amid murderous corruption and compromise, to engage the heavens -- cess and riddance to the days of honest talent! -- come together above the Square transformed by the mutant power from a dirty, working-class, industrious, mercantile, decent, noble, aged, respectable, human place against which no resistance was possible into the HiDef punk glitter of Ridley Scott's fetid imagination, looking down on all the suckers who dream of 1945 once again.
